Championship roundup: Lincoln earn late draw against Southampton, Stoke rout Charlton

The Guardian · 2 hours ago

In a busy day of results across the EFL, Lincoln City snatched a dramatic late equaliser against promotion favourites Southampton, while Stoke City ran riot against 10-man Charlton Athletic. Elsewhere, Sheffield Wednesday, Stockport County, Fleetwood Town, Salford City and Preston North End all picked up victories, with several sides continuing strong starts to their seasons following relegation or a slow opening.

Mikkel Ladefoged scored his first English goal to earn Lincoln a 1-1 draw with Southampton after Welington's first-half strike for the Saints. Stoke thrashed Charlton 4-0, with debutant Justin Devenny scoring twice before the visitors' Danny McNamara was sent off for two quickfire yellow cards. Sheffield Wednesday won 2-1 at Peterborough to make it four wins in five League One games, Stockport thumped Wigan 4-0, and Fleetwood beat Shrewsbury 2-0 to extend their unbeaten run to six games. Preston earned their first win of the season, beating Blackburn 2-1 thanks to an early Callum Lang double, while Salford edged Port Vale 1-0.
