Chang Chen Urges Emerging Taiwanese Actors to ‘Be Like Water’ at Taiwan Creative Content Fest Golden Horse Showcase
Chang Chen urged six emerging Taiwanese actors to adapt to different directors and film sets, comparing acting to water taking the shape of its vessel. His advice came at a Taipei showcase designed to connect new performers with international creative teams, investors and media.
The actors were Bai Xiao-ying, Ho Man-xi, Rosen, Jimmy Liu, Ma Shih-yuan and Lin Yi-ting, all Golden Horse Best New Performer nominees or winners. Their experience ranges from Bai, who began acting at six, to Ma, last year’s winner for “Left-Handed Girl”; several said they hoped to try comedy or villain roles. Chang said actors should study people with different personalities to help them inhabit varied characters.
In short
- Chang Chen told rising Taiwanese actors to adapt to each production.
