A 22-year-old former Reject Shop worker has been denied bail after being accused of joining two teenage girls in a violent home invasion in Geelong, Victoria. Brodee Lea Scott appeared at Geelong Magistrates' Court, where she faces allegations of storming a woman's home, assaulting her and ransacking the property. Magistrate Simon Guthrie refused her bail application despite her having no prior imprisonment, ruling she had not shown the exceptional circumstances required for release, a decision that comes weeks after the death in custody of another young first-time inmate, Tarsha Golightly.

Police allege Scott and two 17-year-old girls, who cannot be named, targeted the woman's Geelong West home on 16 August over a grievance one of the teenagers held, allegedly believing the victim had information about a death. The court heard the trio assaulted the woman, including stomping on her head three times, before one of the teenagers allegedly tried to stab her, with Scott's lawyer claiming she intervened to protect the victim. The group allegedly returned later to smash a window with a golf club and steal further belongings, while the victim, who fled over a fence, was allegedly caught and assaulted again, leaving her with a broken nose, a possible broken jaw and injuries requiring stitches after two days in hospital. Prosecutors described the case against Scott as "very strong".
