The release follows closely on from the album's launch, which has drawn substantial international attention, including a 9/10 review from Clash magazine praising its "unsettling brilliance". The bonus tracks reward fans who have followed the rollout closely and offer further insight into the creative process behind the record.

The B-sides are currently available only as a £4.99 download on iTunes rather than on streaming services. Charli xcx explained on Instagram that she felt it was natural to pair each single with a "fitting counterpart" created during the same sessions, but had initially resisted releasing them more widely as it seemed at odds with the songs' spirit. She said she "begrudgingly" put them on iTunes after fan demand, joking that people could call her a hypocrite, and added that she believes in following creative instincts "when your inner source throws something up from within you".
