Charlie Hunnam has clarified that the upcoming "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off, titled "Sons of Anarchy: Legends," is not a continuation of the original biker drama as an unofficial eighth season, but a separate project in which the cast reunite as themselves. Speaking in a recent interview to promote the new season of his Netflix series "Monster," Hunnam explained the idea stemmed from his own recurring dreams about reuniting with his former co-stars, prompting him to write a project that would bring the group back together creatively.

According to Hunnam, "Legends" sees the original cast playing fictionalised versions of themselves, coming together a decade after the show ended while retaining their real-life friendship, before being drawn into an unexpected adventure. The series, announced within the past month, reunites much of the original ensemble including Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal, with the story reportedly beginning at a convention celebrating the show before escalating into a larger conflict. The original "Sons of Anarchy," in which Hunnam played Jax Teller, ran for seven seasons between 2008 and 2014.
