Chelsea have been fined £10m for breaching Football Association rules on agent payments made during Roman Abramovich’s ownership, but they will not lose Premier League points. A proposed six-point deduction was set aside on appeal, while a two-window transfer-registration ban has been suspended, meaning the immediate sporting impact is limited.

The club admitted making £47m in undisclosed payments to unregistered agents and third parties in transfers between 2011 and 2018, following the new owners’ self-reporting of 74 alleged breaches in 2022. The original £26m fine was reduced for Chelsea’s exceptional co-operation, early guilty plea and penalties already imposed by Uefa and the Premier League; the £10m will go to grassroots football. The FA is continuing to investigate possible individual misconduct, while Chelsea says all regulatory proceedings against the club have now concluded.
