Chicago Stars have appointed former US women’s national team coach Vlatko Andonovski as their chief soccer officer, just 10 days after his departure from Kansas City Current. The move gives the last-placed club an experienced football leader as it attempts to recover from poor results and wider organisational instability.

Andonovski has won two NWSL championships and two Coach of the Year awards, and led Kansas City to 21 wins from 26 regular-season matches in 2025. Chicago have won only five games this season, finished last in 2025, dismissed their general manager and head coach, and are currently playing at Northwestern University while seeking a permanent downtown stadium; the club was bought in 2023 at a $35.5m valuation.
