Justin Cooper, who played Jim Carrey’s son in the 1997 film *Liar Liar*, has described an unsettling aspect of childhood fame: receiving letters from imprisoned fans. Speaking on the *Not So Little Rascals* podcast, he said his mother shielded him from the messages and closely supervised him on film sets, helping protect him during his time in the spotlight.

Cooper said his mother also challenged actor Don Rickles over language used around her son and supported his eventual decision to leave acting when auditions began to feel burdensome. He later recalled some tension during high school, including after his mother discovered he was using cannabis, but continued to credit her with managing auditions, rehearsals and his welfare throughout his acting career.
