Chilling 911 call audio has emerged from the case of an American man charged with murdering his Australian wife in Florida, in which he can allegedly be heard calmly telling the operator he had stabbed her and that "now she's dead". The recording adds disturbing detail to a case that has drawn attention on both sides of the Pacific, given the victim's Australian roots and the apparent composure of the accused during the emergency call.

Meaghan Bowler, 32, who was originally from the New South Wales Central Coast, was found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds in a bathtub at her home in South Manatee County, Florida, on 9 April. Paramedics managed to revive her at the scene, but she later died in hospital. Her husband, Jesse Nicholas Jones, 39, an unemployed real estate agent, allegedly called 911 himself and told the operator he had stabbed her several times with a kitchen knife during an argument before leaving her.
