Concurrently, the A24 film "Primetime"—starring Robert Pattinson as Hansen—was released in cinemas, prompting Hansen to publicly criticise it as misrepresenting his work and character. Hansen has purchased advertisements for his streaming service that aired ahead of Primetime screenings, effectively promoting his own content in response to the film's release.

Hansen characterises "Primetime" as "a complete work of fiction attached to a real name" that transforms his child protection work into a dramatic horror film, calling it exploitative and an insult to those working to safeguard children. He claims the studio and director deliberately avoided contacting him to understand the truth, instead choosing to create a darker vision to benefit from his name's recognition. However, Hansen expressed no personal animosity towards Pattinson, whom he praised as a skilled actor, acknowledging the difficult position the studio placed the performer in by refusing to facilitate any meeting between them.
