Chris Pratt and Pope Leo Explore St. Peter’s Tomb in Trailer for Vatican Documentary ‘Discovering the Origins’ (EXCLUSIVE)
A new documentary, “Pétros Ení — Discovering the Origins”, follows Chris Pratt beneath St Peter’s Basilica to explore the tomb of St Peter and its religious and archaeological history. Pope Leo XIV appears in the final scenes, reflecting on the apostle and the meaning of his tomb. The film is being released to mark the 400th anniversary of the basilica’s consecration, highlighting a site central to Christian devotion.
The documentary includes rarely seen footage and traces how Peter’s burial place became a focus for early Christians and the foundation for the first basilica built under Emperor Constantine. Its Greek title refers to an inscription meaning “Peter is here”, found near the burial grounds. Directed by Paula Ortiz and written by Andrea Tornielli, it launches from the Rome Film Festival before an international cinema rollout planned for February 2027, with regional distributors handling releases across North America, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia.
