Christopher Judge Officially Addresses Fan Concerns About a Kratos-Free ‘God of War’ [Exclusive]

Collider · 3 hours ago

Christopher Judge, the voice of Kratos in the God of War series, has responded to fan uncertainty about God of War Laufey, the first entry in the franchise not to star Kratos as the playable protagonist. Speaking at a Fan Expo Canada panel, he explained that the game's focus on Faye, Kratos's late wife, offers a valuable opportunity to explore what drew her to him and why she trusted him to raise their son, Atreus, deepening the emotional foundation of the series rather than sidelining it.

God of War Laufey, announced by PlayStation in June, is set for release on 16 February and follows Faye after her death as she navigates the afterlife known as the Everywhen while her plans to protect Kratos and Atreus unravel. Her story runs parallel to the events of the 2018 God of War and Ragnarök, with glimpses of Kratos appearing in gameplay footage to show how the two narratives intertwine. Judge said he is keen for players to finally understand Faye's influence on Kratos's transformation and why she was willing to risk their son's safety on a man with a violent past.
