Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is such a success it’s giving Assassin’s Creed a major boost
Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey has reportedly sparked renewed interest in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, as audiences seek out games and other works connected to ancient Greece and Homeric themes. The surge illustrates how a major film release can generate cultural spillover for older games, particularly those available through subscription services.
According to Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliott, the game’s daily active users rose from about 122,000 across platforms on the film’s 17 July release day to 233,000 within ten days. Steam interest increased by 26%, PlayStation players nearly doubled, and Xbox players rose by 134%; Ubisoft’s social-media activity is also said to have supported the resurgence.
