Chrome will now show a warning before you visit ‘suspicious’ sites
Google is adding a “suspicious” site warning to Chrome for people who have Enhanced Protection enabled, giving them a clearer signal before they open a potentially harmful page. The change distinguishes uncertain risks from sites Chrome considers dangerous, so users can judge the warning’s strength before deciding what to do.
Chrome may flag a site as suspicious when it shares traits with sites linked to phishing, malware or scams; Google says these alerts have lower confidence and could be mistaken. They appear in a pop-up on desktop and mobile, with an option to mark a wrongly flagged site as safe. Dangerous-site warnings remain more prominent, filling most of the screen with a red background, and Google has also improved Gemini-powered scam detection for Enhanced Protection users.
- Chrome adds warnings for sites that may be suspicious.
- The feature requires Enhanced Protection to be on.
- Dangerous sites still receive a more prominent warning.
