Cleo Reed Announces New EP Is This How Empires Die?

Cleo Reed has announced a new EP, *Is This How Empires Die?*, continuing their exploration of life for queer and working-class people in America. The announcement comes as the political and socioeconomic issues addressed on their 2025 album *Cuntry* remain present in the United States.

The EP is due out on December 4 and includes the lead single “American Dream”. Its video was filmed at the Demery Family Rodeo in Oklahoma on the Fourth of July, and questions American policy, surveillance and patriotism through images including Black youths at play and Reed’s silhouette against flames. Reed described the track as an “anti-anthem” about confronting reality amid AI-generated music, surveillance and crisis.
