CNN Apologizes for Using Photo of Tribute Artist in Dolly Parton Report

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

CNN apologised after mistakenly showing a photograph of Las Vegas Dolly Parton tribute artist Kelly Vohnn during coverage of Parton’s reported death. The error drew criticism because the network used an impersonator’s image in a tribute montage despite the availability of many authentic photographs from Parton’s long career.

The image appeared on Laura Coates Live around 12 hours after the death announcement and was reportedly taken at a Las Vegas red-carpet screening in December. CNN said it regretted the mistake and apologised to Parton’s family, while Vohnn, 58, said she had not supplied her likeness to mislead viewers and called for stronger editorial checks.
