CNN, Politico and MS NOW say they will sue the Trump administration after their journalists were barred from the White House and had their access badges seized. They argue the ban was imposed because the president objected to their reporting, potentially violating First Amendment protections for a free press and the public’s access to independent journalism.

Trump accused the outlets of publishing “fiction or lies” about his administration but did not identify specific reports, instead describing the decision as based on coverage accumulated over several years. He warned that other organisations could face similar treatment, while his administration has also pursued legal action against outlets including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and BBC.
