‘Coach’ Single-Cam Reboot With Ty Burrell In Works At NBC From ‘Mr. Throwback’ Duo
NBC is developing a single-camera reboot of the 1990s sitcom *Coach*, with Ty Burrell attached to executive produce and intending to star. The new version would follow a legendary coach returning to Minnesota to rebuild his former university’s basketball programme and reconnect with the local community.
Daniel and Matthew Libman, co-creators of *Mr. Throwback*, are writing the series, which is being developed by Davis Entertainment and Universal Television. The original *Coach*, starring Craig T. Nelson, ran on ABC for nine seasons and centred on a college football coach; a planned NBC sequel in 2015 was dropped after one episode was filmed. Burrell is best known for *Modern Family*, for which he received two Emmy Awards.
