Coachella Organizers Announce New Santa Monica Beach Festival

Pitchfork · 4 weeks ago

Goldenvoice, the company behind Coachella, has announced a new beach festival called Ocean Way in Santa Monica, California. The two-day event will take place on 26–27 September, bringing a major touring production to a city beach rather than the desert setting Goldenvoice is best known for, and forms part of what Santa Monica's mayor described as a civic "renaissance" for the city.

The Killers and Olivia Dean will headline the inaugural bill, with Jack White, Khruangbin and Sublime also among the top acts. Further performers include Durand Jones and the Indications, Alvvays, SG Lewis, 54 Ultra, Hiatus Kaiyote, Blond:ish and Poolside, alongside a DJ set from Hot Chip. The festival will be staged on the stretch of beach between Santa Monica Pier and Bay Street, and takes its name from Ocean Way, the street where producer Allen Sides founded the Ocean Way Recording studios.
