‘CoComelon: The Movie’ Brings Baby JJ (And SZA) To the Big Screen: Watch the First Teaser Trailer
SZA will lend her voice to a character in "CoComelon: The Movie," the first feature-length film from the hit children's franchise, DreamWorks Jr. announced with the release of its debut teaser trailer on Thursday 6 August. The casting marks an unusual departure for the seven-time Grammy winner, who is far better known for chart-topping R&B hits than family animation, and signals the growing ambitions of the CoComelon brand as it moves from streaming into cinemas.
The trailer shows toddler character JJ and his friends searching for his lost stuffed bear Boba, a chase that leads them through a mysterious lost-and-found box into a magical new world. Directed by Kat Good, the film also features original music from Grammy-nominated songwriter Justin Tranter, and is produced by DreamWorks Animation, Moonbug Entertainment, Flywheel Media and Prime Focus Studios, with Universal Pictures distributing. It is due for theatrical release on 19 February 2027, and arrives amid continued success for SZA, whose album "SOS" spent 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200 and produced hits including "Kill Bill" and "Saturn".
