A 22-year-old college baseball player, Glenwood "Bubba" Pysher IV, was fatally shot by police in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Pennsylvania, after mistakenly trying to enter the wrong house following a night out with friends. His mother says he was unarmed and was shot twice by an officer after homeowners, alarmed by the knocking, called police to report a suspected break-in. The case is under active investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney's office, and the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.

Police responded to a 911 call just after midnight on Sunday 23 August about a possible burglary at a home on Snyder Road, finding a man at the rear of the property before an "encounter" led to the shooting. Pysher's mother said he had been bar-hopping to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday and, after the group split up, took a wrong turn and knocked on the back door of a stranger's home believing it belonged to a friend. He had played baseball at several colleges, including Francis Marion University and Holy Family University, and was due to begin his senior year at St Elizabeth College in New Jersey the following day, with plans to become a history teacher and baseball coach.
