Comedian James Acaster has launched a new band, The Wow! Scenario, releasing their debut single 'Zacuti' featuring BC Camplight. The project, formed with friend Graeme Wicks in Kettering in 2004, has taken more than 20 years to complete, offering a rare music venture from a performer better known for his stand-up comedy and Off Menu podcast.

The band's debut album, 'Stand in the Star. A Verse and a Chorus', featuring vocalists BC Camplight and Emma Daman, is due for release on 23 October via Bella Union. The record went through several false starts: songs were first recorded in 2007 before the band initially disbanded, revisited as an instrumental version in 2018, and finally re-recorded with vocals in March 2023, before being mixed and completed in March 2025. The band's name reportedly originated from a drunk audience member mispronouncing "the X factor" as "the wow scenario".
