Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin out for season with patellar tendon injury, coach says
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin will miss the rest of the season after tearing the patellar tendon in his left knee. Coach Dan Quinn said McLaurin will have surgery; his absence removes a major part of the offence from a team that has started the season poorly.
McLaurin, 31, was injured while running a route in the first quarter of Monday’s 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and was taken off the field on a cart. In five games this season, he had 15 catches for 230 yards and a touchdown; across eight seasons with Washington, he has 513 catches, 7,191 yards and 42 touchdowns. The Commanders are 1-4-1 and last in the NFC East, while his contract provides $5.35 million in injury guarantees if he is not healthy by 1 April.
