US Senators Josh Hawley and Dick Durbin have launched a bipartisan congressional investigation into Roblox over allegations that children have been groomed, sexually exploited and exposed to explicit material through the platform. Their inquiry increases pressure on the company to demonstrate that its child-safety measures match its public presentation as a digital space for young users.

In a letter to Roblox chief executive David Baszucki, the senators said the company reported 65,381 suspected cases of child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in 2025, more than twice its 2024 total. Roblox has faced previous lawsuits and regulatory scrutiny, including a $12 million Nevada settlement requiring stronger youth protections; it has also introduced changes such as avatar-customisation limits and age verification using selfies and ID checks.
