‘Control Resonant’ Team on ‘Reverse Symmetry’ of Switching From Jesse to Dylan as Sequel Game’s New Protagonist

Variety · 4 hours ago

Remedy Entertainment has released “Control Resonant”, the sequel to 2019’s “Control”, with Jesse Faden missing after the original game’s events. The new protagonist is her younger brother Dylan, who searches for Jesse while confronting a supernatural crisis in a reality-distorted Manhattan. The developers describe this as a deliberate reversal of the first game’s structure, in which Jesse searched for Dylan and found a new purpose as director of the Bureau of Control.

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen says both games focus on the siblings’ journeys, but “Resonant” explores Dylan’s search for connection, belonging and renewed humanity. Actor Sean Durrie drew on Dylan’s history, including his guilt over being controlled by The Hiss, his long confinement and his desire for atonement, while creating a performance shaped by the character’s altered mental state. The sequel launched on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S after almost seven years of development.

  • “Control Resonant” makes Dylan the protagonist while Jesse is missing.
  • The sequel mirrors the original game by reversing the siblings’ roles.
  • Dylan confronts supernatural threats while reclaiming his humanity.
