Couple’s charity walk in honour of lost twin
A Rotherham couple, Cody Mellor and Dean Middleton, are raising money for the hospital charity that supported them after one of their identical twins died before birth. Cody fell pregnant in 2025 after a five-year struggle with fertility linked to polycystic ovary syndrome, only to be told at a 33-week scan that one twin, Halle, had died, while her sister Phoebe survived.
The couple were cared for in the Snowdrop Suite, a charity-funded bereavement facility at Rotherham Hospital, before and after Cody's caesarean section on 22 January, which she described as an "absolute lifeline" that let her and Dean stay together. They have already raised more than £1,800 for the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity and plan to take part in the 5km Autumn Memory Walk around Manvers Lake on 18 October in memory of Halle.
