Coventry City secured their first Premier League win since April 2001, beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 thanks to a well-taken Jay Dasilva goal, in a result that will lift Frank Lampard's side after a difficult start to the season had raised doubts about his management. Coventry's disciplined defensive display blunted Forest's attacking threat throughout, though the home side were left furious after a late VAR decision ruled out what would have been an equaliser at the City Ground.

Dasilva's strike, assisted by goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, made him only the second player in Premier League history to have a season-opening goal set up by a goalkeeper, after Peter Schmeichel in 1992-93; the win was also Coventry's 100th in the competition. Forest, managed by Oliver Glasner, mustered 26 shots but only three on target and have now failed to score in their first three home league games of a season for the first time in their history, extending a wretched home record in 2026 in which only Burnley have beaten them since April.
