‘Coyote Vs. Acme’ Distributor Ketchup Entertainment Takes U.S. On Norwegian Animated Pic ‘ViQueens’
Ketchup Entertainment, the distributor behind the theatrical release of Warner Bros Animation's Coyote vs. Acme, has acquired US distribution rights to ViQueens, a Norwegian animated film directed by Harald Zwart. The deal extends Ketchup's recent run of success in family entertainment, coming shortly after Coyote vs. Acme delivered the company's best-ever domestic opening and overall box office takings. A US theatrical release date for ViQueens has not yet been confirmed, though the marketing campaign begins this weekend.
ViQueens tells the story of two Viking girls, Ingrid and Hedvig, who travel from Norway to China to return a stowaway boy, with a voice cast led by Ella Purnell and Rita Ora and a score by composer Christophe Beck. A teaser will debut exclusively in cinemas showing Coyote vs. Acme, which is nearing $37 million domestically after an opening weekend of $15.9 million. The film is produced by Veslemøy Ruud Zwart and represented internationally by Sola Media, and is already set for a Norwegian release on 25 December.
