Cricket Rules India’s Streaming Viewership in New Ormax StreamView Report
A new Ormax StreamView report, launched by Ormax Media in January 2026 to track long-form streaming content across India, found that cricket dominated viewership in the first half of 2026, with the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and the Indian Premier League taking the top two spots on JioHotstar. The findings highlight cricket's continued grip on Indian streaming audiences even as platforms diversify into scripted series, films and reality formats, and underline JioHotstar's position as the country's dominant sports-streaming destination.
The T20 World Cup drew an estimated 246 million viewers between January and June, ahead of the IPL's 228.4 million, with a India-New Zealand cricket series also making the top five with 30.5 million. Outside sport, "India's Got Latent" Season 2 led non-sports titles with 38.5 million lifetime viewers, while "Dhurandhar" topped Hindi theatrical releases with 35.2 million. Ormax said its estimates come from weekly surveys of more than 3,000 respondents, counting unduplicated viewers who watched for at least 30 minutes, excluding overseas audiences and short-form content.
