Pearl Abyss has confirmed that Crimson Desert is being prepared for Nintendo Switch 2, with a target release in the first half of 2027, subject to optimisation and quality checks. The developer is also exploring multiplayer possibilities and potential live-service operations, signalling an ambition to extend the single-player open-world game beyond its initial release.

The announcement followed 2.11 million additional sales, taking reported sales beyond the 5 million recorded in June. Pearl Abyss said multiplayer would require major work on servers, balance and cross-platform stability; it is also developing the first DLC for release this year and considering further content, platform versions and sequels as part of a longer-term franchise strategy.
