Cruz Beckham, the 21-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham, has revealed the career advice his famous parents gave him as he prepares to launch his music career. Speaking to SiriusXM Hits 1 Miami, he said both parents encouraged him to focus relentlessly on his craft, though he gave the edge to his mother's guidance, saying her experience performing for huge crowds as a Spice Girl carries particular weight. The interview matters as a promotional push ahead of his debut EP, part of his transition from famous family name to a musician in his own right.

Beckham's debut EP, Wear & Tear, is released on 21 August via Republic Records and features songs he has been writing over the past two to three years, including the previously released, Britpop-influenced title track. He also credited his songwriter girlfriend with shaping his approach. He will support the release with his first US headline tour, starting 28 July in Washington DC, followed by festival dates including Lollapalooza and Outside Lands in the US, and Reading and Leeds plus other UK shows through September.
