Crystal Methyd Made Her Return to ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ Worth It
Crystal Methyd has won RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 11, marking a triumphant return to the franchise six years after finishing as a season 12 finalist. Her original season aired in early 2020 and was largely overshadowed by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the finale held remotely over Zoom and won by Jaida Essence Hall. This victory not only completes unfinished business from that disrupted run but also makes her the first person of Mexican descent to win the mainstay series.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after her win, Crystal explained that she took six years to return partly to hone her craft and meet heightened expectations, and partly to make up for the travel, gigs and fan interactions she missed during her pandemic-hit debut season. She rejected suggestions that All Stars should air less frequently, saying she believes the franchise should never pause, as "more drag is good for everyone." She also reflected on celebrating her win in Las Vegas alongside fellow contestants Sonique Love and Jaida Essence Hall.
