Cult Classic Platformer Rain World Is Getting A Definitive Release On Nintendo Switch 2

Polygon · 1 hour ago

Publisher Akupara Games held its first-ever showcase, the Akupara Direct, where it announced that the cult classic platformer Rain World will finally arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 as part of a new Anthology Edition. Rain World, developed by Videocult, blends a cinematic, Limbo-style puzzle platformer with survival mechanics, tasking players with guiding a slugcat through a hostile world while foraging for food and avoiding deadly rain. Though notoriously demanding and not to everyone's taste, the game has built a devoted fanbase over the years, making this physical, multi-platform release a significant moment for its community.

The Rain World Anthology Edition bundles the base game with its two expansions, Downpour and The Watcher, and will be released physically for PS5, Nintendo Switch and, for the first time, Nintendo Switch 2. Akupara is partnering with Serenity Forge on both a standard edition featuring an embossed slip cover and a Collector's Edition including an art book, scarf, keychain, standee, sticker sheet and soundtrack. The showcase also revealed other titles, including Videocult's Airframe Ultra (launching 5 November), a new "crafting simulation" called Bonespire from the Cryptmaster team, retro platformer Aokaki, and updates on Kumitantei: Old Slaughter and The Darkside Detective: Backside of the Moon.
