A report from MP1st claims CD Projekt Red and Shantae developer WayForward were collaborating on an unannounced side project based on Cyberpunk 2077's anime spin-off, Edgerunners. The game, codenamed Gemini, was reportedly conceived as a 2.5D brawler, though it's unclear whether the project is still active, which matters given the anticipation around a full Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and the franchise's wider expansion.

Details of Gemini emerged from the portfolio of a former WayForward developer, whose identity was withheld, describing a "rollback-driven 2.5D brawler" with "rollback-safe architecture" and "online transport integration", suggesting online multiplayer was planned. The project was reportedly in early development at WayForward between 2025 and 2026, though its current status is unconfirmed; separately, WayForward is said to have halted an Unreal Engine 5 project last year after funding delays, leading to layoffs. The news arrives amid a busy period for CD Projekt Red, which has rebranded recently and is juggling Edgerunners Season 2, a Cyberpunk trading card game, The Witcher 3's Songs of the Past expansion, and the in-development The Witcher 4.
