A game based on the acclaimed anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was reportedly in development at CD Projekt Red, according to a report from MP1st, though its current status is unclear. The project, codenamed Gemini, was said to be a 2.5D brawler being built by WayForward, the studio behind River City Girls and Shantae, capitalising on the anime's popularity, which has arguably eclipsed that of the original Cyberpunk 2077 game.

Details emerged from a former WayForward developer's portfolio, which described Gemini as a rollback-driven brawler developed between 2025 and 2026 and listed it as a CD Projekt Red title in its research and development phase; an internal logo combining the Edgerunners branding with the Gemini name was also included. However, reports indicate WayForward halted an unannounced project in 2025 before undergoing layoffs last September, raising the possibility that Gemini has been shelved, though this remains unconfirmed. Polygon has contacted both CD Projekt Red and WayForward for comment, and a second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is due for release this autumn.
