Dad of murdered NYC nurse heard boyfriend’s fatal shot during daughter’s call for help

A New York nurse was killed inside her Bronx apartment during what police believe was a domestic dispute with her boyfriend, a federal border officer. Her father was on the phone with her and reportedly heard the gunshots, making him a witness to the moments of her death.

Police identified the nurse as Andrea Cantarini, 37, and her boyfriend as Juan Cornelio Diaz, 38, who was stationed at JFK Airport. The NYPD said Diaz allegedly shot Cantarini in the head at about 9pm on Tuesday, then was found with a gunshot wound to the head. The case was reported as a developing story.
