Dahi Announces New Album Black Boy (Alternative) Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Amber Mark, Vince Staples, & More: Hear His Childish Gambino & Moses Sumney Collabs
Producer and DJ Dahi (Dacoury Dahi Natche), a Grammy-winning studio figure known for his work on records by Kendrick Lamar, Drake, SZA and many others, has announced his own album, Black Boy (Alternative). The record marks a rare turn to a personal creative statement from a producer whose credits span more than a decade of rap and pop, and it arrives with a guest list nearly as extensive as his production résumé.
The album is due on 28 August via ALTER Music and features 11 tracks with contributions from Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples, Amber Mark, Moses Sumney, Channel Tres, Ravyn Lenae, Obongjayar and others. Recent singles "Rest Of Your Life" and "Find Me" (the latter with Moses Sumney) form part of the project, and the newly released single "Running" reunites Dahi with Childish Gambino — Donald Glover's first musical release in over a year — featuring guitar likened to Radiohead's "Reckoner" and a dreamy, summery feel.
Explained simply
Dahi (Dacoury Dahi Natche) is a Grammy-winning producer and DJ who has spent more than a decade working behind the scenes on records by major artists, including Kendrick Lamar, Drake and SZA. His new album represents a rare departure from his role as a studio figure, marking his first significant project as a solo artist releasing his own creative vision.
The album, titled Black Boy (Alternative), comprises 11 tracks featuring an extensive list of collaborators including Kendrick Lamar, Moses Sumney, Vince Staples and Amber Mark. Producers who transition to releasing their own work as artists remain relatively unusual in the music industry, which is why Dahi stepping into the spotlight after years of helping shape other musicians' records is particularly noteworthy.
