Danko Jones, frontman of the Canadian rock band that bears his name, has said the group's next album will deliberately sound similar to their most recent release, insisting he has no interest in changing their musical approach. In a new interview, he pushed back on the idea that repeating a formula is a creative weakness, arguing that consistency is simply "the job" and comparing the band's approach to that of long-running acts such as the Ramones, Motörhead and AC/DC.

Jones said the band has "yet to prove" itself commercially, having never had a record "explode" in the way some peers' releases have, but framed this as fuelling their motivation rather than pushing them towards reinvention. He noted that developing a recognisable "signature sound" is genuinely difficult given how many bands exist today, and said Danko Jones has largely achieved that distinctiveness. The comments follow the band's most recent album, "Leo Rising", released last November, which was produced by Eric Ratz and featured a guest appearance from guitarist Marty Friedman on the single "Diamond In The Rough", which reached No. 32 on Billboard Canada's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in February.
