Danny Boyle says a third “28 Years Later” film will be made, though he is unsure when. Alex Garland has written what Boyle calls a very good script, and the film will feature Cillian Murphy prominently. At the Zurich Film Festival, Boyle also backed Jack O’Connell as a future James Bond, while saying he believes Denis Villeneuve will handle the franchise well.

Boyle discussed leaving “No Time to Die” after producers and Daniel Craig lost confidence in the story he developed with John Hodge. He was at the festival to present “Ink”, his drama about the early days of The Sun, with O’Connell as editor Larry Lamb and Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch. Boyle said the film traces how the paper’s 1969 pursuit of success connects to today’s weakened relationship with truth and the attention economy, while asking audiences to consider their own complicity.
