Anti-migrant activist Daniel Thomas, known online as “Danny Tommo”, is being investigated after posting footage that appeared to show him cutting a migrant dinghy with a knife in the English Channel. The incident occurred after the RNLI had rescued its passengers, but while a French rescuer was still aboard the empty boat, raising concerns about safety and possible criminal damage.

The 40ft dinghy carried 51 migrants from Normandy to Dover after an unprecedented 38-hour crossing, rather than reaching Gosport as protesters had expected. French rescue services reportedly monitored the vessel but did not intervene because of safety concerns, while six people were arrested during related protests; opposition politicians criticised the Government’s £662 million agreement with France, saying it had failed to prevent crossings.
