Darius Rucker, the singer known for fronting Hootie & The Blowfish and for his solo country career, has said he is considering retiring from touring within two years. Speaking on The Dan Patrick Show, the 60-year-old explained that after playing 110 shows last year he is increasingly drawn to spending more time at home, though he intends to keep making records. His comments mark a notable moment for an artist who has remained a consistent presence in popular and country music for more than three decades.

Rucker suggested that if he does stop touring, he would want one final large-scale Hootie & The Blowfish run, culminating in a farewell show at Williams-Brice Stadium in his home city of Columbia, South Carolina, where the band formed at the University of South Carolina in 1986. The band's 1994 debut album, Cracked Rear View, topped the Billboard 200 and produced three Hot 100 top 10 singles, later earning 2x Diamond certification. Rucker also built a successful solo country career, starting with 2008's chart-topping Learn to Live and amassing nine No. 1 Country Airplay hits across six albums, most recently 2023's Carolyn's Boy.
