Marcye Scott, Everton Blair Jr head to Georgia House runoff
Developing story first seen 2 hours ago
Marcye Scott, daughter of the late Democratic Congressman David Scott of Georgia, has been forced into a runoff after failing to win outright in the special election to complete her father's unfinished House term. She will face former Gwinnett County school board chair Everton Blair Jr on 25 August, with neither candidate securing enough votes in Tuesday's initial contest to avoid a second round.
The winner of the runoff will serve out the remainder of the late Congressman Scott's term before the victor of November's separate regular election takes office for a full term beginning in January. David Scott represented Georgia's 13th congressional district for the Democratic Party until his death.
