Dave Chappelle criticised organisers of Lauryn Hill’s Diaspora Calling! Festival after the Fugees’ headline performance was abruptly stopped because of a venue curfew. The comedian said the decision had spoiled a historic moment, as Hill and Wyclef Jean were marking 30 years since the Fugees’ album The Score.

Hill and Jean began their set at 10pm BST at Milton Keynes National Bowl, leaving only an hour before the festival’s legally required 11pm finish. A screen message apologised for the abrupt end, while Hill later said the festival’s first event of this scale had involved a significant learning curve and promised to make up for planned guest appearances that did not happen.
