Dave Grohl on the undisputed, greatest live band of all time: “They’re the best”

Dave Grohl has praised Queens of the Stone Age as the greatest live band, saying, “They’re the best.” His view draws on his experience as a performer and his belief that playing live is essential for bands to build an audience and develop their sound.

The article connects Grohl’s admiration to Josh Homme’s early band Kyuss, which played free parties in California’s Palm Desert using petrol generators for power. Homme said those audiences shaped the band because listeners would openly tell them if they were not good. Homme carried that approach into Queens of the Stone Age, whose live performances impressed Grohl.
