Warner Chappell Music (WCM) has promoted David Goldsen to Executive Vice President, A&R, the publisher announced on 15 July. Goldsen, based in Los Angeles, will continue reporting to Ryan Press, President of North America at WCM, and the move reflects the company's recognition of his role in developing successful songwriters over a long tenure at the firm.

Goldsen joined Warner Chappell in 2009 and has spent 17 years there, working with artists including Zach Bryan, Sleep Token, Teddy Swims and Mitski, whom he signed in 2018 before her single "My Love Mine All Mine" became a hit in 2023. He has also contributed to the development of Vance Joy, the Red Clay Strays and Tones and I, with previous roles including Vice President, Creative and Head of A&R, Australia (2022) and Senior Vice President, North America A&R (2024); he was also named to Billboard's 40 Under 40 list in 2024. The promotion comes amid a string of recent WCM hires and strong results for its songwriters, including Amy Allen's Grammy wins, and follows the company reporting a 9.6% year-on-year rise in publishing revenues to $353 million for Q1 2026.

Explained simply

Warner Chappell Music is one of the world's largest music publishing companies, meaning it owns the rights to songs. When a song is played on radio, streaming services or television, the company earns money from those rights, making it a major force in the music industry.

David Goldsen has spent 17 years at Warner Chappell and is recognised for discovering and developing successful artists. He signed Mitski, whose song "My Love Mine All Mine" became a major hit in 2023, and has also worked with artists including Zach Bryan, Teddy Swims and Tones and I.

The promotion comes as Warner Chappell is experiencing strong financial growth, with publishing revenues up nearly 10 per cent in early 2026. The company continues to develop commercially successful artists and has seen several achieve major recognition, including Grammy-winning songwriter Amy Allen.
