Classic Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth and drummer Alex Van Halen are set to reunite in public for a TEDxFargo talk on Thursday 30 July, marking their first joint appearance since the band's final concert in October 2015. The reunion, in conversation with visual artist Robert Vargas, comes despite the pair having had strained relations over the years, and follows Alex's recent memoir in which he praised Roth's era of the band while notably omitting any mention of singer Sammy Hagar.

Alex Van Halen was announced as a TEDxFargo participant several weeks ago, with Roth added to the line-up more recently; all three will appear together in the room on the day, though the talk will not be uploaded to YouTube until several weeks afterwards. Roth's schedule freed up after he cancelled the remainder of his summer tour, reportedly amid low ticket sales, retaining only an August 7th date at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. Both men have separately fallen out with Hagar in recent years, making this rare joint appearance notable to Van Halen fans.
