Da’Vine Joy Randolph to Star in Indie Dark Comedy ‘Dedicated to Morris Burke’ From Director Will Ropp (EXCLUSIVE)

Da’Vine Joy Randolph will lead the independent dark comedy “Dedicated to Morris Burke”, directed by Will Ropp. She plays Judy Brooks, the widow of a bestselling novelist who becomes fixated on discovering the identity of a man named in her husband’s final book dedication, sidelining her grief and relationship with her son. The film explores bereavement through the overlap between tragedy and comedy.

Kate McKinnon, Amy Sedaris, Janeane Garofalo, Alison Pill and Andrew Rannells are among the supporting cast. Production began in New York City in late July, from a script by Jeremy Leder; it is Ropp’s second feature after “Brian”. Andy Horwitz, Casey Hanley, Omri Bezalel, Ropp and Bunny Productions are producing, while UTA Independent Film Group and Gersh will handle global sales.
