Baltimore-based artist Dawuna has released a new mixtape, ‘African Family Laptop Musick’, alongside signing to True Panther Records. The project marks a personal, experimental release from the avant-garde soul musician and precedes further new music expected this summer.

Dawuna, whose real name is Ian Mugerwa, made the mixtape while recovering from a traumatic head injury that later led to an amnesia diagnosis, leaving him with little memory of its creation. He describes it as a low-fidelity, abstract piece about his family life; it follows his 2021 debut ‘Glass Lit Dream’ and 2024 album ‘Naya’, and is currently available to buy through Bandcamp and Boomkat rather than streaming platforms.
