DC Is Officially Going ‘Parks and Recreation’ for New 8-Part Jimmy Olsen Series
DC Studios has officially announced a new eight-episode series titled *The People v. Gorilla Grodd*, a spin-off of last summer's *Superman* film focused on Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen, again played by Skyler Gisondo. Framed as a mockumentary in the style of *American Vandal*, the show sees Olsen investigate whether the super-intelligent villain Grodd genuinely murdered and ate the brain of his father, ruler of Gorilla City. It marks the latest addition to HBO Max's growing slate of DC television projects following *Creature Commandos*, *Peacemaker* and *Lanterns*.
The series is created by Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the duo behind *American Vandal*, with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran serving as executive producers. Jimmy Tatro voices or portrays Grodd, who is imprisoned at Stryker's Island Penitentiary awaiting judgement in the "trial of the century." The show builds on Olsen's role in *Superman*, where his relationship with Eve Teschmacher (Sara Sampaio) helped foil Lex Luthor's (Nicholas Hoult) scheme, though Olsen remains unaware that his friend Clark Kent (David Corenswet) is Superman.
