Explained simply
Mister Miracle and Big Barda are characters in DC Comics’ Fourth World, a science-fiction saga created by Jack Kirby. Mister Miracle, whose real name is Scott Free, is an escape artist; Barda is a powerful former soldier from the planet Apokolips. They are partners who build a life together on Earth.
The Anti-Life Equation is a weapon sought by Darkseid, Apokolips’ ruler, because it could strip people of their freedom and will. The 2017 comic by Tom King and Mitch Gerads follows Scott and Barda as they face this threat alongside personal struggles. Their story brings superhero conflict together with questions about how a couple copes with trauma and mental distress.
